Mission Valley Chorus

Angela Suraci is the Music Director of Mission Valley Chorus, a women’s a cappella barbershop chorus that is part of Sweet Adelines International. Angela's lifelong passion is music. She has sung in high school, college, and professional choirs. Angela has also pursued a career in opera. She has degrees in Vocal Pedagogy and Psychology. She is a private voice instructor and coaches quartets and choruses. She has also competed in several quartets.

Angela Suraci has been the Mission Valley Chorus Music Director since 2005. During this time, Angela has taken MVC to memorable performances at New York City's Carnegie Hall in 2008 and 2019, and to three Sweet Adelines Regional Championships in 2011, 2013 and 2017. In 2012, she took the chorus to the Sweet Adelines International Competition in Denver, where the chorus sang in the semi-final round. In 2015, in association with Music Celebrations International, Angela took the chorus to Ireland where they performed in Killarney, Waterford, and Dublin. In 2018, Mission Valley Chorus placed second in the Harmony Classic Division AA at the Sweet Adelines International competition.

Last year and this year, while Sheltering In Place and rehearsing via Zoom, Mission Valley Chorus members individually sang and videotaped their part of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” and other recordings. The individual recordings were then combined into single recordings. Those of you who were able to attend the Saturday, August 14, San Jose Giants vs. Modesto Nuts baseball game at Excite Ballpark heard and saw Mission Valley Chorus sing “The Star Spangled Banner” on the Jumbotron.

Please welcome back Angela Suraci as she updates us on what Mission Valley Chorus has been up to since her last visit in July of 2020.
