Thank you to everyone who was able to attend one of the three concerts that I participated in on December 7. For those who were unable to attend but wanted a sample of what occurred, here it is!
This was the 18th year that Mission Valley Chorus has offered the “Jingle Bell Tea”. The sold-out audiences at both teas were treated to a variety of holiday music sung a cappella in four-part harmony by the women’s barbershop chorus. This was augmented by a holiday music sing-along for the young and young at heart in the audience and by holiday music sung by individual quartets.
The audience had a light lunch and a choice of beverages while enjoying the entertainment.
Audience members who purchased raffle tickets waited to hear their numbers called as the winners of the unique centerpieces that graced each table. The tea ended with the entrance of an upright hippo as the chorus sang “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”.
Below is a video of the chorus singing “Carol of the Bells”:
My third concert was with the Orchard City Community Chorus (OCCC) as we sang “Songs of the Season”. This concert was standing-room-only. We sang a mix of secular and popular holiday music as a full chorus with audience participation, full chorus, small groups, and soloists. We also had a silent auction.
Below is a video of Jean Misko, a fellow member of the chorus, and me singing “Santa Baby”:
I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season! Happy New Year!
