A Year of Service and Gratitude

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

As I pen my final newsletter as your club president, I am filled with immense gratitude and pride for all that we have accomplished together over the past year. It has been an honor to serve alongside such dedicated and passionate individuals, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have led our club during this remarkable journey.

Throughout the past 12 months, our club has achieved significant milestones and made a lasting impact in our community and beyond. Click here to access a few highlights from our year together.

Inspiring Hope and Service to Others

Throughout this year, our theme of inspiring hope and service to others has been at the forefront of all our activities. Each project, event, and initiative has been driven by our collective desire to make a positive difference and uplift those around us. We have seen firsthand how acts of service, no matter how small, can inspire hope and bring about meaningful change.

New Rotarians

This past year, we welcomed into our club new members who have joined our Rotary family, including Barry Bronson, Hemamalini Raja, Rupal Gandhi, Colleen Martell, Bryan Swanson, Mary Wang, Supriya Krishnamoorthy, and Jennifer Taylor-Mendoza (Blue Badger). Mona Hrapkowicz, Sandy Wu are scheduled to be inducted in June. We are excited about the fresh perspectives, energy, and dedication they bring to our club.

Welcome aboard!

In Memoriam

In reflecting on the journey of service and hope, it's also important to remember and honor the Rotarians who have passed away this year. We mourn the loss of beloved members Sesh Ramaswami and Roger Austin, who were pillars of our community and exemplified Rotary's values of service, fellowship, and ethical leadership. Their dedication to making a positive difference in the world will be deeply missed, but their legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire us as we carry forward their spirit of service above self. In their memory, let us recommit ourselves to the ideals of Rotary International, striving to uphold their legacy through our continued efforts to create lasting change and foster goodwill in our communities and beyond.

Looking Ahead

As I transition out of the role of president, I am excited to support our incoming president, Chuck Swan, in the coming year. Chuck brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Rotary’s values. I have no doubt that under his leadership, our club will continue to thrive and make a positive impact.

A Heartfelt Thank You

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support, patience, dedication, and enthusiasm. Your contributions have made this year memorable and successful. Serving as your president has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I look forward to continuing to serve our community and club in the years to come.

Together, we have demonstrated the true meaning of "Service Above Self." Let us carry this spirit forward as we embark on new projects and initiatives, always striving to make a difference in the lives of others.

Here's to a bright future for the best Rotary Club in the world...Saratoga Rotary Club!

Yours in Rotary,

Renée Kazemipour Paquier, Ed.D

Rise Against Hunger
A Heartfelt Thank You from Rise Against Hunger
It was a privilege to join forces with District 5170 and Rise Against Hunger this past Saturday, April 8th, at Saratoga High School, where we truly made a significant impact together. Your dedication in packaging 24,000 meals demonstrates a powerful commitment to fighting hunger and supporting those in need across the globe.

Tidbits
Fingernails and Toenails
Ever wonder why you need to trim your fingernails more frequently than you toenails?
Well, it’s not because your toenails get rubbed down while making holes in your socks.
Toenails actually grow three times slower (about 1mm/month) than fingernails.
Why, you may ask.
Fingers have better blood circulation partly due to the higher usage of our hands.

They’ll go the extra mile
& always with a smile.

They come to all parties
& boy, they are smarties.

They take up the slack
They have your back.

They’ll host a meeting
Where we spend our time eating.

They’ll head an Art Show
& bring in lotta dough.

Their names don’t rhyme
But that’s just fine.

Our Inspirations are
Cathie &. Sheeba👏🏽👏🏽

How lucky we are
To live where we do
To help others less fortunate
And still enjoy what we do

Youth is behind us
It will never come back
So, help those who still have it
Find a good life’s track

Sometimes rain can be a pain
It can make your plans go awry
But there’s always hope
That the next day will be dry

Sometimes wet is good
Sometimes wet is bad
We had the bad
Then the dry made us good

We raised a lot of money
That will do a lot of good
We made so many happy
As all Rotarians should

Working hard for others
Is what Rotarians do
The artists and the community
And those we donate to

Making strangers happy
Can make us happy too
Our art show made lots of “happy”
Thanks to all of you

Yesterday’s strangers
Can become friends today
Friends for a lifetime
Friends that will stay

Time slips by
You laugh, you cry
Seek more laugh
Before your good bye

Art and music
Conduits to your soul
Enjoy them often
For they’re what makes us whole

My dog wanted out
So, we went for a walk
Was I walking the dog
Or was he walking me?

Sometimes you think
That you’re in control
And never realize
Who’s pulling your leash

Simple Pleasures

Our bodies give us simple pleasures
Most we take for granted
But when we think of how many there are
We should be grateful for them all!

Everyone has them
Rich or poor
Wherever we live
Whatever we do

So, what are these pleasures?
I will tell you some
But there are many more
For you to explore
So, enjoy them all
And have a ball!

Scratching an itch
Rubbing your eyes
Peeing and pooping
A cleansing sneeze
A lung-filling yawn
A long deep burp
A big stinky fart
A robust laugh
A massage on sore muscles
A comb through your hair
The touch from a loved one
A hug from a friend
A smile from a stranger
The thrill of a kiss
(And all that can follow)
A cool breeze on a hot day
Coming in from the cold
A relaxing warm bath
Singing in the shower
Holding a baby
Petting an animal
The taste of good food
A thirst-quenching drink
A delightful smell
Gazing upon beauty
Discovering new things
Listening to music
Drifting off to sleep
