Saratoga Rotary Community Service

Talk about being on a committee and literally getting to wear multiple types of hats and actually doing good for the community! If you find it hard to believe then come and join us at the Rotary Club of Saratoga and find out for yourself.

As a member of the community service committee you will get to wear hard hats, Santa hats, Elf hats, hairnets or Dr. Seuss hats!

You can be part of team of “do-gooders” that cleans Highway 9 every quarter, takes kids back to school shopping, brings smiles to kid’s faces by having an event where they get to have breakfast with Santa and get showered with gifts from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, help Rise Against Hunger by packing meals with our young Interact Club members, or read One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish…to kids at Latimer Elementary and enjoy the Zany world of Dr. Seuss with them!

The rotary members also assemble hundreds of care packages for the active duty members stationed all over the world. These packages are assembled for a completely volunteer led organization called Operation Care and Comfort. They provide support and comfort to “adopted” units of deployed U.S military service members, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other conflict regions.

So, here’s an opportunity to work with like-minded individuals and give back to your immediate community and also to communities across the world!

Here’s a list of our programs:

  1. Back to School shopping with kids for West Valley Community Services

  2. Assembly of Care packages for active duty service members for Operation Care and Comfort

  3. Breakfast with Santa for KG and 1st graders at Washington Elementary Scool, San Jose.

  4. Packaging 10,000-30,000 meals with Interactors for Rise Against Hunger

  5. Read to Kids at Latimer Elementary School as part of Read Across America or Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

The Community Services Committee meets the 2nd Friday of the month, 11:15 AM-12 PM @ Joan Pisani Community Center, Saratoga.
