STEM education for students in West Africa in Niger) – project brought in by our new member, Ed Smith. His father is a member of Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs, CO. Rotary Club has been supporting science education in West Africa for nearly 10 years. We are now developing our 6th and 7th Global Grant applications to the Rotary Foundation. This project will support science education in 15 high schools in Niger. Although most of the funding for previous projects has come from their club and matching funds from their district and The Rotary Foundation, increasing the number of schools to be supported from 6 to 15 exceeds the upper limit of DDF (District Designated Funds) that their district will award to one Global Grant project. So, they are looking for clubs in other districts that will partner. The total cost of the proposed project to serve 15 schools is $108,000. Their club has pledged $24,000, which will become $78,000 with district (DDF) and Foundation matches. So, they are short about $30,000. Contributed 3000 DDF
